I have been admitted to the fall 2007 Gonzaga class and was wondering if any of you would feel comfortable commenting on Gonzaga's strengths in IP. I am electrical engineer and looking to pursue IP, but noticed that Gonzaga does not have a "focus" in this area. I really like the area and am impressed by the school/Spokane, but would like some help knowing what IP studies are like there and what job prospects are for Zag graduates in this field.
Thanks!

Gonzaga has been quietly building its strengths in IP during the last couple years.
Although the Law School doesn't have an official "concentration" in IP, we have revamped our course offerings for next year and beyond to offer a broader menu of IP classes. The new course line up includes the Intellectual Property survey course, advanced classes in three areas -- Copyright Law, Trademarks & Unfair Competition, and Patent Prosecution & Infringement, and two additional courses -- International & Comparative IP, and IP Licensing & Transactions. The Law School believes these additional courses will permit students interested in developing expertise in IP as a basis for practice to graduate well-prepared to join the IP legal community.
The Law School recently added another full time faculty member specializing in IP, allowing us to offer our students greater expertise in a wide variety of IP topics.
Gonzaga graduates have gone on to specialize in IP both locally and in cities around the country.
If you're interested in finding out more about IP at Gonzaga, I encourage you to visit some classes and talk to faculty and students about the program.
